Layout to share

One of the layouts that I completed last Saturday...

The original layout was designed by Michelle van Wyk (I think!), but I've adapted it to suit my photos.

Miss Ruby is the 6th member of the Scrap Addicts group.  See her sitting on my chair looking straight at the camera.

Weekend in review

The Scrap Addicts scrapped at Lynn's home on Saturday.  It was great to have the whole team together for a change

Lynn, Linda, Alison and Leonie, with Lynette in front

Lisa from cupcake2delite made these gorgeous cappuchino cupcakes for our dessert on Saturday - they were absolutely delicious!

Little works of art!

Ruby is my 'bookclub in bed' partner; she interferes more than she helps.  She chews my pens, attacks the tassels on my bookmarks, and distracts me with her cute and adorableness.  Adore you miss Ruby!

On Sunday, I did quite a bit of Bible study (this is an awesome study and is blessing me out of my socks), and then pottered around at home finishing my scrap layouts from Saturday, and did some word art doodling.  I like to potter around; I think that is my new career goal.

Layout to share

Some recent layouts that I've been working on...

Scrapbooking calms and comforts me when my life spins out of control and the stress bites deeply.  Number 11 on my list of '47 things' to do this year is to scrap more.  Lots more.

Layout to share

This is the layout that I completed at the class on Saturday at The Memory Shed...

Lisa helped me to cut out the letters on the left as they are part of the background paper.  It was a little difficult for me as I am not good with a craft knife

Lisa introduced us to this little "ribbon bow maker tool thingy".  I use a lot of ribbon on my pages, so I'm happy to have a thingy that makes neat little bows for me (oh dear - am I becoming 'gadget-girl'??)

Weekend in review

Hey!   Weekend - where did you go so fast??  Come back!  Oh well, it was a lovely weekend...

My friend Pat and I attended a class at The Memory Shed on Saturday morning.  Lisa is a great teacher, and I enjoyed spending time with Pat

Lisa helps Pat with her page

Doing what I love

and then I had lunch with my friend Gisi at The Second Cup

We shared a delicious hot milk tart for dessert - it arrived wearing a crown!

and then I got some boxes and tape and crates for the big move in May

on Sunday morning, I trawled Sutherlands and The Patio Warehouse looking at furniture for my new home; I'm just "shopping with my eyes" right now

I got to spend time with my beloved miss Ruby - she is an awesome "book club in bed" partner!  Just wish that she could make coffee for her mom

Food blog

Woolworths was selling 'hot cross bun bread' over Easter (just good old raisin bread to you and I).  After a while, I got tired of toasted raisin bread for breakfast.  I used the (by now stale) raisin bread to make bread and butter pudding for one on Saturday night - so delicious!

This is what I did...
  • 2 slices of raisin bread with butter on both sides, smushed (yes - that's a word!) into a greased oven-proof bowl
  • mixed 1 egg, half a cup of cream and a bit of sugar, poured this mixture over the bread and waited about 15 minutes to soak through
  • baked for 20 minutes at 180 degrees
  • I ate it as is, it didn't need any custard
I'll definitely make this again.

Layout to share

Here are some of the layouts that I finished over the Easter weekend...

These 2 layouts are very similar - I needed back pages for both of my 2010 albums.  Some extra photos from the year on a quick and simple layout worked for me.  A few stamps, some ribbon and stickers and I was done.

Weekend in review

I enjoyed a lovely relaxed easter weekend, but also got a lot of tidying up and other tasks done.

Love my Easter shopping bag (from Woolworths of course)

These gorgeous porcelain bowls were hostess gifts for the people I visited over Easter; I filled them with chocolates and nuts

So glad that I got to spend lots of time with miss Ruby

Sunday lunch with my sister Caron, her mom Brenda and aunt Colette

I organised and filed all my scrap pages for 2010 - 2 completed albums.  I also managed to scrap several pages this weekend; I'll share them later in the week

My niece, Katharyn, was born at 07h15 this morning.
Can't wait to meet her!  Welcome little one.

Be the light

Remember that He died on the cross for you and for me.  And on the 3rd day, He rose from the dead.  He is coming back to fetch us.  Until then, let us choose to be the light in this dark place.

Happy Easter.  Blessings, love and light to you all

Weekend in review

I was forced into taking an involuntary blog break last week because of extreme stress; last week was one of the toughest weeks ever.  Family drama.  Enough said.  I'm sure you'll understand.  We all have times in our lives when our hearts are broken, our spirit is crushed and putting one foot in front of another is just so hard.

I made sure that I had a gentle weekend filled with whispers and comforts.

I spent Saturday morning doing erands at Cresta shopping centre.  I bought miss Elizabeth some warm winter clothes

I love magazines and regularly trip over piles of magazines around my home.  I'm now buying decorating magazines to get ideas for my new home

Miss Ruby got a new scratch post which looks just like the throne for a princess.  Which she is.

I had over R1 000-00 worth of photos printed.  I have not done any printing for a while, so it was time to catch up and get organised

My friend Lynette and I went scrapping at the Memory Shed on Saturday afternoon.  Loved it.  Lisa helped us put together lovely layouts, and fed us lots of hot tea and vanilla cake.  What's not to like?

I put this pack of supplies together for my friend Pat who is just getting back into scrapbooking.

This is Pat and the layout that she made with the supplies that I put together for her.  We spent the whole of Sunday scrapping.  Pat managed to complete this 1 page plus another double layout - awesome!
