Making art

I'm making art again, my version of Bible or Faith journaling.  I journal in a separate art journal, not in my Bible.

Right now, I'm loving the wisdom and teaching of Joyce Meyers, Andy Stanley and Dr. David Jeremiah.

I'll share some pages when I'm ready...

Zaagkuil weekend

I love going to Zaagkuilsdrift Lodge.  It's just 2 hours away from my home, but it feels like I'm in the heart of the African bush when I'm there.  It's so peaceful and beautiful.  Our scrapbooking group recently spent a weekend scrapping (and a bit of crocheting!) at Zaagkuil - it was wonderful.

Lynn loves sewing on her scrapbook pages - the effect is beautiful!

When the smokers took a break to smoke, I tagged along and crocheted.  Our knitting and crochet group is doing a project to make a blessing blanket, so we're all making squares.

Breakfast on Sunday morning was a delicious feast!

Jaco (on the left)  and Gerrie (on the right) and their team made our weekend very special as always.

Comforters

My friend Anne has made comforters for Elizabeth and Katy

The comforters fold up into a pillow size.  When unfolded, Elizabeth and Katy can tuck their feet into the pillow pouch and wrap the comforter around them - perfect for watching TV on a cold night!  I hope they enjoy them.

Winter comfort

We have really not had a cold winter here in South Africa.  Apart from the occasional cold front blowing though, it has been a very mild winter and we're heading towards spring in a few weeks' time.

But it gets cold at night so slippers and hot chocolate are my regular go-to comforts.  And sitting on my bed with a kitty on my lap and some crocheting to keep my hands busy while I catch up on the news.

Crochet Group

Our regular crochet and knitting group met up on Saturday at Mugg and Bean.  It was a good turnout of 10 ladies (actually 9 ladies and a very sweet teenager!) and it was such a lovely afternoon.  It's inspiring to see what everyone is working on, and to share patterns and ideas.

Leonie recently roped me in to doing a lesson on Tunisian crochet.   I wasn't really keen to learn Tunisian crochet, but since the lesson, I am totally hooked!  It's a little bit complicated to get going and the corners are a bit tricky, but within 2 hours, we learnt what we needed to know and now we're steaming ahead.  It's a relatively simple 11-stitch pattern so we're using a normal crochet hook, not the long Tunisian hook.  I have already finished crocheting up 5 balls of chunky wool and am waiting for more from the wool shop.  This will probably be a small blanket...I'll let you know once I'm done.

I found this book at my local CNA, it's got gorgeous and relatively easy patterns for blankets.  So many projects...so little time.
