Autumn kitties

We've had a few gorgeous Autumn days in Johannesburg recently so when I've been home, I've spent a lot of time outdoors in the sunshine...reading, crocheting and enjoying my silly kitties.

My beloved Ruby stays close to me and only occasionally chases a lizard or two

Hooligan Malaika is now allowed to roam free on her own in the garden (with mom watching her like a hawk!) without her harness on.  She investigates everything and chases leaves and eats stuff (I don't know what); she loves being outdoors and has been good (so far!) about not going over the garden wall.  From being an underweight rescue kitty with a fresh amputation, she has filled out nicely and is really healthy and well.  Love you baby!

Crochet inspiration...for cats

It's no secret...I love adore cats.  Miss Ruby is an extraordinary blessing in my life, and she brings me extreme joy every minute of every day

Here is some (hilarious!) crochet inspiration for kitties.  Anyone offering to make this kitty bed for my beloved Ruby??

Cats

Because cats rock my world

Because I adore her

Because cats fight evil - Belgian authorities have gained one very important ally in their fight against the militants responsible for the attacks in Paris earlier this week - the country's cat population. After the country's federal police requested that citizens avoid posting about the whereabouts of police or military officials on social media accounts, locals responded by diverting the use of the #BrusselsLockdown hashtag to be about their cats.

New camera

I've had my Fuji Finepix EXR camera for at least 5 years, and while I love it, the quality is not great anymore, and it's starting to argue with me when I select certain settings.  I eventually had to buy a new camera; a compact suits me best.

I did a fair bit of research and selected the Canon Powershot SX710HS; I'm hoping it was a good choice and that the photos will be beautiful... Now I need to play with all the settings and get comfortable with the camera

Of course the first photos I took were of my beloved princess Ruby...
she's used to having a camera lens in her face :-)

Cat in a box

I get it - cats love boxes.  But they look awful.  A year ago, I tossed out Ruby's beloved box and gave her  a shiny clean plastic crate.  She hated it.  She took all of her toys out of the crate and refused to sit in the crate.  Ever.

Last week I relented and took a good old cardboard box home for princess of my heart.  Ruby is in absolute heaven and just sits in there for hours, looking smug and happy.  Then she knocks it over and hides and plays in it...

Silly monkey.  Love you Ruby!!

She has her own thing going on

My beloved Princess Ruby has loved having me work from home during the second half of December.

She has her own life going on, and is a busy little girl.

No matter what I'm up to, her routine is to have a long afternoon snooze at around 1pm.  I want her near me so I put her basket on my desk while I work (and I watch her sleep!!)

Love you baby girl!!

I work, she sleeps

Princess Ruby sleeps on my desk when I work at home.  She is the sweetest angel child.  She had her annual vaccinations this week (she really does not like the vet) and has the start of a bit of gum disease, so mom and this little princess are going to start the 'toothbrush wars'.  Yep - I need to start brushing her teeth.  Neither of us are looking forward to that daily drama!  Love you my baby.
