Kitty Bucket List

This is Ruby's bucket list...

*  sleep on mom's new black jersey

*  catch the red dot

*  have mom home all day with me so that I can sleep on her lap whenever I want to

*  catch the fish on mom's iPad

*  smack the dog next door who barks so much!

*  catch the cape robin and fat lizard who live in the garden and taunt me when I'm locked up inside like a prisoner

*  be able to open mom's bedside drawer and get hold of her make-up brushes and ear buds

*  have at least 5 boxes all around the house - all for me

*  find out who those 'other' kitties are on Pinterest and why mom looks at them!

Around here

Planning a big birthday celebration in January 2015 - I'm considering a high coffee / high tea for friends, and possibly a week away with my family

Getting ready for 8 whole days of scrapbooking with the Scrap Addicts in June - bliss!

Thinking about an inspiring quote - "at any given moment, you have the power to say this is not how the story is going to end" (thanks Lynn!) which is making me push a few 'what if's' around in my head

Nurturing my inner rebel, especially at work, where I more frequently have a strange sense of calm and peace in the middle of total corporate madness

Working with a specialist foot physiotherapist to help me deal with the pain in my right foot (from a Morton's Neuroma), and reluctantly adding my name to the long waiting list to see a foot surgeon

Loving cuddles with my beloved Ruby as the temperatures drop at night

Waiting for the succulents and winter bulbs in my garden to bloom

Democratic duty

Yesterday was election day in South Africa, and I was really proud to be voting.  I voted at around 1pm, and queue wasn't bad.  50 minutes from the time I parked my car until the time I voted.  YES for democracy in South Africa.  I'm really praying that the opposition parties give the ruling party a kick in the pants, so that they finally pay attention to the concerns of citizens!

...and then the rat story - I've been kept awake at night for several weeks now by rats in the roof of my home.  It is beyond frustrating and irritating.  Apparently as soon as it gets cold, the rats come out of the ground and look for warmth in peoples' homes.  I paid a large chunk of cash to Roof Rats to have my roof rat-proofed.  It took several hours - the guys first vacuumed the ceiling (and removed a dead rat!), and then added mesh around the edges to prevent the unwanted visitors.  At 10pm last night, the rats were back - ugh!  Roof Rats will just have to come back and do a better job.

Scrapbook layouts

Here are a few of my recent scrapbooking layouts...

Original page designed by Lynette Olivier

Original page designed by Leonie van den Berg

Original page designed by Linda Wood

I say 'original page designed by...' because I always change layouts to fit my photos; I never make my photos fit the page, that doesn't work for me

Each of these pages was designed by one of the Scrap Addicts.  We have a quarterly 'challenge' to each design and make up a scrapbook kit for the group; these ladies are hugely talented!  Because of the awesome quarterly kits that we receive and our regular monthly scrapbooking date, we have not felt the need to attend scrapbooking classes for a long time.  We would rather spend our money on buying supplies and designing our own pages.

Turning 2

Little miss Katy turned 2 in April.  She is such a cutie!  Even though she had just had her tonsils out and was feeling awful, we still got tons of cute smiles from her as she destroyed her birthday cake.

Elizabeth is a great big sister who loves singing 'happy birthday' and 'how old are you now?' back to back, several times.

Love these girls to the moon and back!
