My family is going on  little road trip this weekend to the Northern Cape to scatter my late sister, Rose-Marie's ashes.  Rosie died on 22 December 2011 after a long battle with cancer.  Only now does it feel like the right time to let go of her ashes.

I made this mini album for my mom.  It contains photos of Rose-Marie and lots of place for family members to write down some of our memories of her.  It will be a very sad time for our family, but also a celebration of her life and a time to remember the good times we shared with Rose-Marie.

We know that she's waiting in heaven for us.

Around here

weekend: scrapped with the Scrap Addicts on Saturday at Leonie's home; visited Scrap-a-Doodles store to get some essentials for upcoming scrap dates

reading : 'when hoopoes go to heaven', not loving it but I'll hang in there for a few more chapters

messy scrap room : overwhelmed at the mess, taking Leonie's advice to do it slowly... it's ok if it takes a month (or two) to unclutter and organise

garden : pondering if I should replace this ugly space under the trees with grass or circular paving....

laughing : at my beautiful Ruby - big kitty, small basket

Day in the Life : May 2013

I've been meaning to do the Day in the Life project by Ali Edwards for a while now - photographing and scrapping everyday life on 1 day a month.  Today was a good day to start the project.  I still need to do the scrapping (I'll probably use my Project Life Album), but here are some photos from today...

I'm in Cape Town, and managed a quick visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium this morning, and a visit to the craft market next door.  I think that the project intention is to celebrate the ordinariness of everyday life, so while the photos from today were somewhat out of the ordinary (I do travel to Cape Town once a month on business), most of my Day in the Life pages will probably be about ordinary stuff like sitting in the traffic, grocery shopping, making dinner, and my bedtime ritual.

A parcel in the post

I always get a little excited about receiving a parcel in the post.  I subscribed to the monthly Studio Calico scrapbooking kit at the beginning of the year, and then the postal strike happened in Johannesburg.  I saw the monthly debits to my credit card but never received any packages.  Just as I was about to contact Studio Calico, I received 3 boxes in the mail, a bit battered but the contents were fine.

With the exchange rate and postal costs, the kits cost me about R480-00 per month; I estimate that I receive goods to the value of around R250-00, so this is not good value for me.  Admittedly all the items in the kit are brand new designs, but 12 sheets of paper, a few embellishments and one or two other bits and pieces does not equal R480.  I need to try and cancel my subscription.  Lesson learnt...

THANK YOU to Lynn for helping me at the retreat...
I couldn't have done it without you my friend!

Life according to Ruby

She makes me late.  I work from home most mornings to miss peak hour traffic, and then I go into the office at around 9am.  She interferes with my productivity and concentration.  Total cuteness!  I adore you miss Ruby!
