Scrap Addicts

Our monthly Scrap Addicts gathering this month was at Linda's home.  We started later than usual - Lynn did a park run event and I slept in a bit, so we only got going after 9.  We dawdled over coffee and belated presents for Linda's birthday, and then went shopping at ScrapCrazee - a lovely shop in Meyersdal.

I'm working on my Week in the Life album

We eventually got round to doing some scrapbooking and had a wonderful day before Linda kicked us out we left so that she could watch the rugby (her team lost...just saying).

Kitchen renovations

The floor and the walls and the cabinets in my kitchen are brown.  All the brown drives me crazy.  I don't want to spend a lot of money on renovating the kitchen but I was going a bit mad with all the brown.  So I had a row of the brown tiles removed and replaced with pink mosaic tiles.  Not sure that I love it but I do like it...I can live with this until I find a new home in 2016

Before...brown  brown  brown everywhere

Green juice

I really do not like to eat vegetables.  Salads are ok and I'm fine with fruit.  I've learnt to eat more salad and a few more veggies during the past year, but I really don't love vegetables.  My friend Leonie has inspired me to try juicing, a good way to get more veggies into my diet without having to actually eat them.  I did a lot of reading and research before buying a juicer.  As always, there are lots of opinions for and against juicing.  It just makes sense to me, and I'm adding goodness to my diet, I'm not making juicing my whole diet.

I make green juice most days (yes, really) - spinach and apple.  I feel a little bit like I've finally joined the secret vegetable club when I buy a lot of organic veggies every week - something that I would never have done before the juicer arrived. Yeh baby!

2 years ago, I started sleeping an extra hour a night.  I still don't feel any better or more rested.  I really hope that juicing does not deliver the same 'no change' results!  I'll let you know if / when I start feeling great.  Nothing to report yet.

Roses make me happy

I'm loving the roses that are available at the moment.  I received beautiful pink roses (and chocolates) for bosses day last week.  I'm also enjoying the roses from my garden.  A little vase of white roses in my bedroom every day makes me happy

Weekend in review

I went to visit my family for the weekend in the NorthWest Province.  The girls are growing so quickly and I don't like to miss out on what they're up to; I also need to see my mom more regularly.  It was just an overnight visit but great to see everyone again

This is the silly billy club!

Art Journalling

When I get stressed from the overload and endless demands at work, I feel the need to be creative.  I'm working in a Moleskin journal, which I've entitled 'the book of small moments'.  The big moments in our lives are rare and we usually look forward to them so much.  But our lives are made up of 10 000 small moments every day, and that's what I'm documenting.  And it's a reason to play with paint and stamps and stuff that I love.  I'll be offering a retreat in 2015 to make this journal.

Week in the Life

I did a Week in the Life challenge in Autumn 2010, documenting a week of everyday life in stories and photos.  I wanted to do the same this year in my 'new' home, and because a lot has changed during the last 4 years.  You've already seem some of the photos that I'll be using - my visit to Greyton and the scrapbooking weekend.  Here are a few more photos which I will be including - my business trip to Cape Town, working in Johannesburg, my home and Ruby.

I have a lot more photos of ordinary stuff like doing the washing, things I bought during the week, news stories, meals that I ate, etc. which I like to include; it's fun to look back on a few years' later.  I've printed out the photos and gathered all the bits and pieces that I want to record; now I just need to get moving.  If you want more information on this project, take a look at Ali Edwards' site (Week In The Life 2014 is happening from October 27th though November 2nd); the dates didn't work for me so I chose my own dates.
