Unsettled and uneasy

I'm not settling well into my new home.  I'm feeling overwhelmed, unsettled, uneasy, and very tired.  I usually deal well with change, but this prolonged period of having several contractors and workers drilling and sawing and painting and banging is wearing me down.  I'm tired of having dust and dirt everywhere, of mess, of having to clean up the dirt that is carried in on the workmen's boots.

I lay awake for a long time last night, and I prayed.

I know that I am unsettled because I don't yet have any happy memories of my new home - I'm missing the sound of friends and family and laughter, the smell of good food and flowers, the joy of hours spent scrapping with the Scrap Addicts.  I'm missing the peace of just being able to slow down and relax in a comfortable home that works, and not have to do any jobs, not have to unpack a box or fix something.

All 7 internal doors are being replaced on Friday, and then most of the major work will be done for now.

I've done some research and will perform a Christian home blessing this weekend.  I am going to bless my home with peace, harmony, safety and joy.

  1. Oh dear, Alison, I do know a little bit about how you feel, as I had the same feeling when my kitchen was revamped, first the removal of the old cupboards, and all the tiles etc., and then the new cupboards, and then I had to wait about 8 weeks before I could have the new tiles laid etc. Unfortunately, there is no quick solution, you will just have to sit it out with all the contractors, but just think of it this way, your house is going to look beautiful when you are finished. And your blessing / cleansing of the house is a great idea. Thinking of you, and praying for you. Lots of love, xxx
