Knitting in Lake Titicaca

After visiting the floating islands, we chugged out into the lake for nearly 2 hours to Uros Island for lunch.  This is an island of crafters where the men knit and the women weave

One of the values of the islanders is not to be lazy, so the men knit as they walk along

Yep - the men knit these hats - gorgeous!  The tension is so tight that the hats are almost water-tight

we had a delicious lunch of vegetable soup, fresh fish and chips with salad

the knitting needles have tiny crochet hooks on the end

  1. I just love their philosophy of not being lazy. Their work is beautiful.
