Robben Island

While in Cape Town on our recent scrapbooking trip, we took the ferry out to Robben Island.  The wind was howling and a cold wind blew but we were just fine.

That's Robben Island off in the distance, about 7,5km's from Cape Town (I took this photo from the top of Table Mountain)

This is definitely a trip that every South African should make as a first hand account of part of our country's troubled history.  The visit affected us deeply, and we all agreed that we want to know more about the struggle veterans, especially Robert Sobukwe who was kept in isolation for years.

Signal Hill

After our trip up Table Mountain, we visited Signal Hill - it's so pretty up there

By now we were starving, so we headed to the V&A Waterfront and had a late lunch at Gibson's.  Oh my word, the gourmet burgers and milkshakes (47 kinds to choose from!!) were outstanding!  We rolled out of there with very full tummies

Table Mountain

Our Scrap Addicts group recently spent some time in Cape Town.  We did the touristy thing for a few days, and then scrapbooked for a few days...it was so so very good.

On day 1, we visited the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, and then to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in the late afternoon (my camera battery died on me so no photos).

On the morning of day 2, we were blessed with good weather and enjoyed a beautiful trip up Table Mountain

Scrapbooking layout

As you read this, the Scrap Addicts are jetting off to Cape Town on a mini holiday for a few days and to scrap with Lynette who retired to the Cape at the end of 2015.

This is the double page layout which I designed as my March scrap kit for the girls.  I hope the ladies like it!  I've been using my old Slice machine which I find more hassle free to use instead of unpacking my big Cricut machine.  I used the Slice to cut out the stars, the swirl on the bottom right and the word 'together'.

New crochet project

I've started a new crochet project in beautiful soft baby wool.  These pretty squares will become a poncho...I hope.  I've never made one before and I don't have a pattern but there are lots of tutorials on Pinterest and the various blogs which I follow, so I'm sure I'll be just fine.

My goal is to crochet 1 square a night on the days when I'm home, so I hope plan to finish my poncho before winter.  It will be perfect with jeans and boots
