Layouts to share

It's almost weekend and I am so looking forward to spending time with the Scrap Addicts group tomorrow, a whole day of scrapping with friends.  We have a "Christmas in July" theme for the day and lunch will probably feature a couple of Christmassy treats.  Everyone is also bringing a small gift to make it feel more like Christmas

2 layouts of the Scrap Addicts to share this Friday morning...

Have a great weekend!

Just a list

I'm in Cape Town for a few days, my regular monthly commute to work in this beautiful city.

Just a list...
  • grateful : I got to drive along Chapman's Peak yesterday afternoon - this really should be one of the wonders of the world
  • praying : for more years of health and life for Nelson Mandela
  • working on : being more of an an artist in my everyday life, gearing up to play with paints and pens and stamps and things in the coming weeks
  • realising : that the battle of the scale is lifelong, and I am not alone in this war
  • loving : Afrikaans music
  • trying : pilates (again)
  • listening to : Dixie Chicks
  • watching : "eat, pray, love" on DVD
  • enjoying : masterchef australia

with 10 weeks to go until I leave on a trip to italy, I'm starting to get really
excited at the prospect of a long journey to a foreign country.
this layout is from my trip to Scotland in 2010

Happy birthday Madiba

Nelson Mandela turns 93 today - happy birthday Madiba!  What an awesome human being this man is.  Through his quiet unassuming way, he teaches us about forgiveness, reconciliation, acting with dignity and compassion, humility and nation-building for the good of all people.  We are all urged to do something for 67 minutes to help others (Madiba spent 67 years fighting for freedom); my contribution will be to buy more school shoes for Kingsway Christian School in Johannesburg.

What will YOU do today for 67 minutes to help others?

I bought this Madiba pencil bag at an African
craft store in the Sandton City Mall.

Layout to share

"Close your eyes and tap your heels together three times.   And think to yourself, there is no place like home"     **The Wizard of Oz**

Oh joy - it's Friday, my favourite week day.  I'm looking forward to spending some quiet time at home this weekend, just pottering around, maybe scrapping a few pages, maybe just settling onto the couch with a book in hand and a cat on my lap.

Before I go, a layout to share..

17 photo's on this layout and some journalling!  I love this layout.
It reminds me of a very happy weekend with special friends
I didn't want to do another layout on the same topic so I chose
my favourite photo's from the weekend and used
a pagemaps idea by Becky Fleck to fit it all in

Some chipboard letters, felt ribbon and lots of yummy paper

Hope

A little note of hope in the middle of the week...

"Hope for the moment. There are times when it is hard to believe in the future, when we are temporarily just not brave enough.
When this happens, concentrate on the present. Cultivate le petit bonheaur  (the little happiness) until courage returns.
Look forward to the beauty of the next moment, the next hour, the promise of a good meal, sleep, a book, a movie, the likelihood that tonight the stars will shine.
Sink roots into the present until the strength grows to think about tomorrow"
