Quiet time

My Bible Study group is doing a short study on quiet time - keeping our appointments with God.  I'm always incredibly busy and then totally exhausted at the end of the day, so I confess that I often whisper a hurried prayer before drifting off to sleep.  I know that the devil wants to keep us busy and distracted and exhausted so that we don't spend time with God.  This study has made me slow down a bit and make time to spend in God's word.  I'm really enjoying my new Life Application Study Bible - I should have got one long ago.

The ripple blanket

The ripple blanket is progressing beautifully.  I love this ripple stitch.  This is a little knee blanket that I started in November.  Just a few more rows to go, then many many loose threads to stitch in, and a few pompoms on each corner and I'm done.  In my busy world, that's another few months to go...

Walking with Elephants

My friend Bridget treated me to a walk with elephants as my birthday gift - totally fabulous!  She fetched me early on a Sunday morning and we went out to the Magaliesburg for the elephant encounter.  There are 3 elephants, a mom and daughter, and then an orphan who is now part of the group.

driving out to meet the elephants.

As I stood with my hand up against the elephants, my heart broke for the many elephants who are killed by poachers for their tusks.  We heard their low rumble a few times during the encounter - it was magnificent.

The sweetest little cat and a total hooligan

After 6 weeks in her new home with Ruby and I, little Malaika is settling in well.  We had a few health challenges in the first 3 weeks but she's now a healthy little girl who loves nothing better than chasing and harassing her big sister.

She is both the sweetest little cat and a total hooligan.  My beloved Ruby wants to lick her and snuggle, but Malaika prefers to jump, play and bite poor Ruby.  I usually let them sort out their own arguments, but occasionally have to stop Malaika from harassing Ruby.
